Cardiff Council are preparing a new Local Development Plan (LDP)
The Plan contains a map showing a cycle path (a dotted green line) running through the Nant Fawr meadows and woods from the new development between Pontprennau and Lisvane in North East Cardiff. On the same map is a blue line called a "Strategic Recreation Route" which appears to be the current footpath through the site.
If the cycle path is developed, it is likely to be a wide, well lit and tarmaced "super highway" cycle path on the lines of those being developed in Bute Park and the Taff Trail. Such a feature would harm the ecology and bio-diversity of the area, with the possible 24 hour lighting having a damaging effect on or bat populations and would present a potential health and safety issue as this area is so heavily used by pedestrians with young children and dogs.
