 Seasonal Greetings!

We would like to wish all our readers best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

This has been a difficult year for the Friends of Nant Fawr as we have been unable to set up any of our usual activities such as the monthly work days with volunteers, the Family Fun Day, and organised Walks.

Our Ranger, Kevin Date has been able to work on his own for part of the year and has done a great job in managing the paths and attacking the encroaching undergrowth. We do hope that when the vaccine has been widely distributed, we will be able to get back to normality in the Spring and the workdays will re-commence.

During 2020, our area of woodlands and meadows has proved extremely popular with families dog walkers and cyclists.  A number of people have joined the membership and we look forward to meeting some new volunteers in due course.

The increased use of the site has meant that the paths have been heavily used this year and we have appreciated the positive feedback which we have received from new visitors in particular. The other side of this of course is the fact the excessive use of the paths especially during wet weather, has meant that the paths have become extremely worn and in need of attention. It will not be possible to start repairing the paths until the workdays start again. In the meantime it would be very helpful if the two side paths through Rhydypenau Woods were avoided as these have no stone base and become easily churned up.

We hope you are able to enjoy Christmas wherever you are living (some of our readers live in other countries) and  that the New Year will be a great deal more positive!

Jane Williams, Chairman Friends of Nant Fawr.
