Cardiff High School work day

We were pleased to welcome Y7 pupils from Cardiff High School to work with us in the High School meadow on September 21st.
The meadow was planted with trees around the margin, to mark the Jubilee, and most have grown well but the surrounding vegetation has to be cut back annually. The pupils worked hard and it was rewarding to see the trees emerge from the tangle of nettles, brambles etc.
Thank you to the Jane and Mary (Nant Fawr volunteers) and our Ranger (Kevin) who turned out to support the venture!

The Y10 pupils joined us to work on the adjacent meadow.

Alder and dock plants have taken over some areas and these were removed to allow the grass and wild flowers to grow through - the dock plants were removed using special tools provided by Michelle Bales from Buglife.
