Community Orchard in the Making

Its good to see that most of our trees in the orchard in Rhydypenau Meadow are bearing fruit!

They were planted as saplings by Cardiff High School pupils in 2015, having been purchased from a nursery in North Wales, who specialise in old and unusual Welsh fruit trees.

It has been a bit of a battle to prevent the trees being choked by the bracken which is proving to be a real nuisance in that area. Hopefully as the trees grow taller and stronger, they will be able to cope with the bracken.  The fruit will be available for the community to pick in due course.
